Awareness Week 2019: Ruairí

[Michelle] On behalf of Ruairí, 5

What does living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus (SB/H) mean to you? (Or your child?)

'Living with Hydrocephalus can be worrying and stressful at times, sometimes Ruairí can struggle with simple things like zips/buttons which can be very frustrating for him. However, Ruairí is the most amazing little boy, so exuberant and ready to be friends with everyone he meets.'

If you could make people aware of 1 thing related to SB/H, what would it be?

'I would like people to be more aware of hydrocephalus in general, the condition is relatively unknown to most people and I would love to be able to educate people better about both SB and H.'

What is your dream for the future?

'I hope that all children with SB/H can live their best lives, fulfill any dream that they have and that they can access healthcare when they need it and not be faced with long waiting lists.'
