Awareness Week 2019: Louise

Louise, 42:

What does living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus (SB/H) mean to you?

'It can be a bit tiring and stressful living with spina bifida, but I live life as much as I can. For example, I have gone back to college to study childcare at my age. Never say never to what you can achieve living with the condition.'

If you could make people aware of 1 thing related to SB/H, what would it be?

'I always say to young parents of children with the condition that one day your child will walk - the doctors told my parents when I was born that I wouldn't live past 6 days old and that I would never walk. I am doing all of that now!'

What is your dream for the future?

'My dream is to become a Special Needs Assistant- working with children with physical disabilities.'
