Awareness Week 2019: Jane

Jane, 25:

What does living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus (SB/H) mean to you?

'It’s mostly positive for me, I have great support around me from my family and friends. The only issues I find is accessibility around Waterford city with transport, the footpaths are not safe for wheelchair users at all.'

If you could make people aware of 1 thing related to SB/H, what would it be?

'Just that it shouldn’t matter if a person uses a frame walking cane or wheelchair going around, it doesn’t mean they can’t be treated like everyone else and included in things like able bodied people.'

What is your dream for the future?

'My dream is to be happy in life, be more independent and to be working in the job I am today. Maybe being able to own my own house someday and to be able to drive my own car.'
