Awareness Week 2019: Dan

Dan, 25:

What does living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus (SB/H) mean to you?

'It means facing challenges daily and overcoming them. It means acknowledging so called “limitations” and adapting so that I'm not limited. And finally, it means taking on board how the world might see me as a vulnerable, helpless man in a wheelchair and proving them wrong.'

If you could make people aware of 1 thing related to SB/H, what would it be?

'Spina bifida is more than just “legs don't work.” And hydrocephalus is more than just some fluid on the brain - there are so many ins and outs.'

What is your dream for the future?

'My dream is to live independently and work with children in a mental health environment.'
